Seen at Midnight

Phone face up on the pillow

Waiting on a word

Ceiling fan is spinning out the hours

Street dogs singing to the empty towers

Last seen just a minute ago

Close enough to touch but you won't let me know

Used to call me just to hear me yawn

Now you're a grey dot and the moon is gone

Typed out sorry and I typed out please

Typed out every word except the one I need

Tell me something, anything

Even goodbye would be a ring

Seen at midnight, no reply

Blue ticks glowing like a lullaby

I keep typing, then I let it die

Seen at midnight, you don't even try

Scrolling back to when it all was new

Voice notes laughing, now I'm talking to the blue

Maybe you're asleep or maybe you're free

Maybe you're just happier without me

Wake up, wake up

I'm still holding the cup

Seen at midnight, no reply

Blue ticks glowing like a lullaby

I keep typing, then I let it die

Seen at midnight, you don't even try

Seen at midnight

Seen, but never seen me
