Leftover Light

Your hoodie still hangs on the back of my door

I don't wear it, don't toss it, don't know what it's for

I keep your number but I never press call

Just watch the screen go dark against the wall

We were fairy lights on a balcony rail

Bright for a season, then the wiring failed

Nobody's wrong and nobody wins

That's the part where the ache begins

We're just leftover light

From a star that already died

Shining on and on tonight

For a love we left behind

Your favourite song came on at the store

I left my basket by the sliding door

I still set two cups out of habit at dawn

Then pour one back when I remember you're gone

Maybe in some other sky

We'd have learned to say goodbye

We're just leftover light

From a star that already died

Shining on and on tonight

For a love we left behind
