Concrete Lotus

Grew up where the power cuts wrote the bedtime stories

Candle on the table, mama hiding all her worries

Hand-me-down shoes but the dreams brand new

Ran from the rain, couldn't run from the view

Notebook full of verses that the teachers never graded

Every single page a little promise that I made it

Now the city lights look like they're waiting on my cue

Lotus in the concrete, yeah, I bloomed right through

Concrete lotus, rising from the ground

Took the cracks in the street and I turned them into sound

Muddy roots, golden crown

Concrete lotus, never backing down

Rooftop sessions with a borrowed mic

Neighbours banging on the wall, but they still knew the lines

Never had a shortcut, had a long road home

Every cracked step taught me how to stand alone

Mud on my roots, gold in my voice

Hard road chose me, now I made it my choice

Concrete lotus, rising from the ground

Took the cracks in the street and I turned them into sound

Muddy roots, golden crown

Concrete lotus, never backing down
